Thelma Martin McDaniel

Thelma Martin McDaniel, 87,  715 Seven Springs Road, Blacksburg, SC, died June 18, 2015, at Peachtree Centre, Gaffney, SC .  She was the wife of the late Emuel McDaniel and a daughter of the late Stanford and Minnie Ramsey Martin.  She was of the Baptist faith and worked in the textile industry for many years.   Having no children of her own, she  helped raise and mentor many of her relatives'  children.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and her many "adopted" children.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by brothers - William Luther Martin, Charles Fulton Martin and Sherman E. "Goob" Martin; and sisters - Nellie Hardin, Edna Mae Hardin,  Ruth M. Childers, and Jessie M. Bell. 

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-7:00 PM at White Columns.  A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM, graveside, at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4810 Canaan Church Road, Smyna, SC, with Rev. Lucky Earls officiating.  At other times, they will be at their respective homes.

Instead of flowers, Thelma wished for donations to be made to either the Cherokee County Animal Shelter, 300 Yale Street, Gaffney, SC, 29340, or to the Humane Society of Cherokee County, PO Box 2223,  Gaffney, SC, 29342.

Minerva Elizabeth Moore Thomas

Minerva Elizabeth Moore Thomas, 103, 140 Whites Farm Road, Blacksburg, went home to be with the Lord June 14, 2015, at Mary Black - Gaffney.  A native of Blacksburg, she was married to the late Neely Thomas and was a daughter of the late John A. and Martha Jane "Matie" Thompson Moore.  She was a life-long member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Ladies' Sunday School Class and served as a Sunday School teacher.     She was also  a member of the Eastern Star.   She loved her family and gardening.  She worked on the farm,  in a grammar school lunchroom and also in the textile industry. 

Left to cherish her memory are three sons - Neil Thomas(Ouida) of West Columbia, TX, Gary Thomas(Brenda) and Wayne Thomas(Patsy) all of Blacksburg, SC;  grandchildren - Pamela Homburg(Bill) of West Columbia, TX, Neil Thomas, Jr.(Virginia) of Montgomery, TX, Tena Earls(Verdell), Johnathan Thomas(Patricia), Christopher Thomas, and Joseph Thomas all of Blacksburg, SC;  great-grandchildren - Neely Thomas(Trina), Melanie Henderson,  Aubrey Thomas and Erin Thomas all of Blacksburg, SC, and Cody Thomas of Cowpens, SC; and four great-great grandchildren -  Kelci Henderson, Danica Henderson, Kaleb Thomas and Trinly Thomas.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson -  Gregory Charles "Tater" Thomas; three brothers - Fred Moore, Martin Moore and Dever Moore; and three sisters - Ruth Wilson, Pearl Earl and Annie Lee Blanton. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 2-3:00 PM, at Mt. Paran Baptist Church.  A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Vernon Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Mary Ann Elliott

Mary Ann Elliott, 85, 154 Crescent Way Circle, Blacksburg, SC, passed away June 4, 2015,  at Mary Black Hospital, Spartanburg, SC, after a short battle with cancer.  She was the wife of the late Carlton Wilson Elliott and a daughter of the late Frederick Moorehead Hoke and Ruth Vandiver Hoke.  She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church.  She was a cosmetologist for 25 years and worked with the SC Department of Corrections for 15 years.

She is survived by three daughters - Laura Elliott Orr(Charles Phil, Jr.) of Gaffney, SC, Karen Elliott  Addington(Thayer) and Lynn Elliott Walker(Gene) all of Blacksburg, SC;  grandchildren - Brandon Joel Bridges(Sherri) of Blacksburg, SC,  Nolan Hoke McDonald of Boiling Springs, SC, Megan Malone Walker of Blacksburg, SC and Elliott Evans Walker of CT; great-grandchild - Michael Brandon Bridges(Molly) of Blacksburg, SC; great-great grandchild - Cooper Montgomery Bridges; sisters - Florence Vandiver Moore and Tedi Hoke Gibbons(Bill) all of Gaffney, SC; and one brother-in-law - Dewitt Elliott of Gaffney, SC.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother-in-law - Thomas Elliott. 

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2:00 PM at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.  A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Jay Clever officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  At other times, the family will be at the home.

J. R. Peeler, Sr.

J. R. Peeler, Sr., 74, 703 South Charleston Street, Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord, May 8, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC.  He was the husband of Ila Broome Peeler and a son of the late Livie and Lillian Mullinax Peeler.  He was retired from Eaton Corp. and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.  He was a Past Master of Buffalo Masonic Lodge #202, Blacksburg, SC, and was an  Associate Patron of Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #12.

In addition to his loving wife, Ila, he is survived by three sons - William Royce Peeler and wife, Kim, of Kings Mountain, NC,  J. R. "Butch" Peeler, Jr. and wife, Paulette, of Grover, NC, and James Anthony "Tony" Peeler and wife, Patsy, of Blacksburg, SC;  grandchildren - Mark Peeler and fiancee', Miranda McDonald,  Dusty Peeler,  Jim Peeler, Kelly Peeler Patrick and husband, Chris, Emily Peeler, Haley Peeler and Mitchell Peeler; and 3 great-grandchildren - Lydia Royce Patrick, David Allen Peeler and Amberlin McDonald.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister -  Royce Peeler and  Novella Peeler Elliott.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 - 7:30 PM at White Columns.  A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Monday, May 11, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Nazareth Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Billings officiating.  Entombment  with Masonic Rites will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Evelyn Sulser Willis


Evelyn Sulser Willis, 77, of Grover, NC went home to be with her heavenly family on
Saturday May 2, while at Kings Mountain Hospital.  Born in Sylacauga, Alabama on April 19, 1938,  she was preceded by her fathers, Roy Virgil Sulser who gave his life during WWII, Rufus Lee Nelson and mother Mattie Gertrude Barnes.

She is survived by husband Bill Willis of Grover; daughter Patricia Faulkenberry and husband Roger of Kershaw, SC; son Billy Willis of Roswell, GA; granddaughter, Melanie S. Broughton and husband Brian; grandson Joshua Walden and wife Laine, both of Kershaw; great/grandsons who were the love of her life, Brody and Banks Broughton and Ryder Walden; sister Joyce Maxfield and husband Ken of Collegedale, TN; brothers: Jimmy Sulser of Royal, IL., Bloyce Nelson and wife Nancy of Palm Coast, FL; many nieces, nephews; cousins and a loving church family.
 
Miss Evelyn was a friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed meeting new faces and helping where ever she could.  During her life in Grover she filled in as pianist at many local churches; helped publish “The Grover Rover”, a local newsletter; was active in the Grover Woman’s Club and loved mission work thru her WMU at church.  

Visitation will be Monday, May 4th, 6:00 till 8:00 PM at White Columns Funeral Service, Blacksburg, SC.   Funeral will be Tuesday, May 5th, 3:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church, Grover, NC, with Rev. Scott Hardin officiating.   Burial will follow at Grover Cemetery.

Winona Moss Hamrick

Winona Moss Hamrick, 82,  633 Tribal Road Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, April 27, 2015, at home.  Born in Cherokee County, SC, she was the loving wife of the late Carl E. "Ed" Hamrick, Sr. and a daughter of the late Roy DeWitt Moss, Sr.  and Sally Marie Thompson Moss.  She was a Teacher's  Assistant with the Cherokee County School District for a number of years.  She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church where she served as pianist for over 60 years.  She loved her Lord, her family and her church.  She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are one son - Carl E. "Eddie" Hamrick, Jr.  of Blacksburg, SC;  three daughters - Linda Cartee and husband, Billy, of Grover, NC,  Laurie Dover and Lisa Sarratt and husband, Allen, all of Blacksburg, SC;  five grandchildren -  Carl Cartee and wife,  Heather, of Anderson, SC,  Karen Gardner of Kings Mountain, NC,  and Annie Dover and  Abigail and Ella Sarratt all of Blacksburg, SC;  six great-grandchildren - Oak, Ezra, Abe, and Ike Cartee, Lindsey Cartee and Mason James; one great-great-grandchild - Bailey Hammett; one brother - Roy Moss and wife, Carol, of Gaffney, SC; and one sister - Eloise Watson of Simpsonville, SC.

Veter Mullinax Blanton

Veter Mullinax Blanton, 92, of  510 Thompson Street, Gaffney, SC, passed away  April 21, 2015, at Mary Black - Gaffney, Gaffney, SC.  She was the wife of the late Rev. Charles Blanton and was a daughter of the late James "Duffy" Morgan Mullinax and Opel Lula Martin Mullinax.  She was retired from Peeler Rug.    She was a member of Kings Creek Church Of God.

Mrs. Blanton, the oldest of six generations, is survived by her daughter - Jan M. Davidson of Kalamazoo, MI;  two step-sons - Wade Blanton and Virgil Blanton both of Gaffney, SC; three step-daughters - Patricia Miller of Murrells Inlet, SC, Judy Bratton and Kimberly Bratton both of Gaffney, SC;  six grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren;  seventeen great-grandchildren; seventeen step-great-grandchildren; thirty great-great-granchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren;  and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son - Oliver L. Mullinax and ten brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends Friday,  April 24, 2015, from 6:30-8:00 PM, at White Columns Funeral Service, Blacksburg, SC.  A Graveside Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, 1:00 PM, at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery, Smyrna, SC, with Elder Manfred Martin officiating.  At other times, they will be at their respective homes.

Kollen Edward Stacker

Kollen Edward Stacker, 31,  of 589 Whites Farm Road, Blacksburg, SC, died unexpectedly March 19, 2015,  while being a Good Samaritan at a wreck scene in Enoree, SC.  Born in Goshen, IN, he is the  son of Stephen and Kandy Brandt Stacker of the home.  He was an employee of Lambright Construction. 

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents are two brothers - Korey Stacker and Kristopher Stacker both of Blacksburg, SC; one sister - Karmen Stacker of Cowpens, SC;  and his paternal grandparents - Daniel and Sharon Stacker of Goshen, IN.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents - Kenton and Jo Anne Brandt. 

A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held April 11, 2015, 1:00 PM, at White Columns Funeral Service with Rev. Darrell Revels officiating.  The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Ena Priester Martin

"Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matt. 5:16

Ena Priester Martin, 93, of 406 W. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, SC,  went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on March 25, 2015. Ena was born in Keysville, Ga., daughter of the late James Wilson Priester and Susan Hardin Priester.

Ena was a very dedicated servant of Jesus Christ from childhood, through her youth and in the role of full time employee and homemaker. While carrying these responsibilities, she also served as secretary and bookkeeper for John and Mary Dorsey, missionaries to India for 50 years. During this same time locally, she ministered to the elderly and sick, and was a constant encourager for her family and to all under the influence of her life. By her Godly example, Ena showed us how to love, give, and live for Christ, whenever necessary, using words and scripture. She taught Sunday School to various ages at Mount Paran Baptist Church. After retiring from Cherry Burrell and Norfolk Southern Railway she tirelessly invested her life by encouraging others to love and follow Christ.

She was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Martin, parents and sister Norma Robinson. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Smith and husband Henry Smith of Salisbury; one granddaughter Sherry Lee and one grandson Allen Horne; three great grandchildren.  She is survived by three sisters Martha Carter of Leesburg, Fla., Mary Dorsey of Blacksburg, S.C., and Sue Ortino of Easley, S.C.; two brother Dr. Robert Priester (Sara) of Cary, N.C., and the Rev. Bill Priester (Joan) of Fayetteville, Ga.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Mount Paran Baptist Church in Blacksburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service, at White Columns Funeral Home in Blacksburg.

Kenneth Clanton

Kenneth Daryl Clanton, 49, 235 E. Jones Street, Blacksburg, SC, died March 22, 2015, at Gaffney Medical Center, Gaffney, SC.  Born in Charlotte, NC, he is the husband of Cherylene Cantrell Clanton and a son of Roy and Beulah Pittman Clanton of Blacksburg, SC.  Kenneth was employed in the construction industry.  He liked horses, fishing and dogs, but he dearly loved his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons - Sampson Roy Clanton and Dakota Hoss Clanton both of Blacksburg, SC; two daughters - Teresa Ann Mullinax and Lecreda Cheyenne Clanton both of Blacksburg, SC; three grandchildren - Lelay Mullinax, Gabriel Mullinax and James Clanton;  three sisters - Shirley Powell, Cathy C. Moore and Shelia C. Houston all of Blacksburg, SC; and numerous neices and nephews.  He is preceded in death by two brothers - Mike Dennis Clanton and Roy Preston Clanton; and his grandparents - Sidney and Babe Pittman and Lester and  Hattie Clanton.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at White Columns.  A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015, 2:00 PM, graveside at Clingman Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Dale Welch officiating.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Clayton "Clay" Collins


Clayton "Clay"  Eric Collins, 37, 253 Garden Lakes Drive, Blacksburg, SC, passed away March 22, 2015, at home.  Born in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of Yvonne Hawkins Blanton of the home and the late Ronnie D. Collins.  He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Claude Blanton.  He was employed by Ryder Cold Storage.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015, 3:00 PM, at Blacksburg First Baptist Church, with Revs. Scott Hammett and  Ken Reid and Dr. Joel T. Hawkins officiating.  Burial will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery following interment.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Pallbearers serving are Kevin Phillips, Jason Bright, Jason Bedford, Phillip Cobb, Rick Levieth, Justin Baldwin and Jordan Martin.

Patricia Ballenger Evans Day

Patricia "Patsy"  Ballenger Evans Day , 65, of 175 Bee's Branch Road, Blacksburg, SC, started a brand new healthy life on March 17, 2015.  She is the wife of of David Day of the home and was a daughter of the late Lee and Geneva Ballenger of Gastonia, NC.  She worked for the USPS at the GMF in Charlotte, NC,  for 15 years.  She retired from the Dept. of Corrections in Spartanburg, SC.  She was blessed with many friends and much happiness.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 29 years, David, who has taken such good care of her during her lenghty illness.  She is also survived by her wonderful children - Jennipher Cordle, Meredith Meeler and James Day; her grandchildren - Jarrett Day of the home, Zachery Cordle, Michael Meeler, Joshua Meeler, Kayla Logan and Jacob Day; a sister - Aletha Gilliam;  nieces and nephews; and two life-long friends, Edie Thompson and Sharon Tinker.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Evans, of Belmont, NC, and her brother, Boyce Ballenger.  

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 9-10:00 AM, at White Columns Funeral Service.  A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Scott Hammett officiating.  Per Patsy's wishes, informal attire may be worn.  At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Martha Ann Garrett

Martha Ann Garrett, 88, of 123 Whisonant Street, Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord, March 12, 2015, at home.  Born in Cherokee County, she was the wife of the late David Garrett and the daughter of the late Alex and Avalona Pruitt Dover.  She is a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and was retired from the textile industry.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, William Eugene Foster of Blacksburg, SC;  her daughters - Juanita Westmoreland of Smyrna, SC, Faye Westmoreland of Blacksburg, SC, and Jeanette Loftis of Chester, SC; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren  and two great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son - James Stamey, and one grandson, Richard Gene Loftis.

Monroe J. R. Mullinax

Monroe J. R. Mullinax, 65,  165 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC,  went home to be with the Lord, March 2, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband and best friend to his wife, Tena Spearman Mullinax, and was a son of the late Monroe and Mary Moore Mullinax.   He loved to travel, spend time with his grandkids and was an avid Gamecock fan.  He was of the Baptist faith and was  a member of Voice Of Triumph Church, Blacksburg, SC.  He was retired from Wendell Fabrics.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Tena, are two sons - Gary K. Shull and wife, Cindy,  of Vale, NC,  and Jeff Mullinax, of Blacksburg, SC;   four sisters - Sheila Beverly and husband, Ted, of Wateree, SC, Robin Farr and husband, Willard,  of Jonesville, SC, Carolyn Capps and husband, James, of Charlotte, NC, and Judy Ross and husband, Whitney, of Blacksburg, SC; four grandchildren - Kendra Shull,  Jrake Mullinax, Trinity  Shull and Tiara Shull; and one great-grandchild - Mason Shull.   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers - Gene Mullinax, Joe Dean Mullinax and Johnny Lee Mullinax; and one sister - Goldie Wray.

Deborah Jean Bolin

Deborah Jean Bolin, 58, 2431 Wilkinsville Highway, Gaffney, SC, passed away February 4, 2015, at home.  Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Michael Steve Bolin of the home and a daughter of the late  Rodger and Nan Gunn Fowler.  She was of the Baptist faith was retired from Hoechst Celanese.  She dearly loved her family and she enjoyed riding horses. 

In addition to her husband, Steve, she is survived by one son, Heath Bolin, of Gaffney; one daughter, Miranda Lankford,  of Gaffney;  and  seven grandchildren. 

At Deborah's request, no service will be held.  The family will be at their respective homes.

Mary Anne Moore

Mary Anne Moore, 81, 416 Highland Street,  Gastonia, NC, and formerly of Blacksburg, SC, died  January 15, 2015, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.  A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was married to the late Claude Willard "Wig" Moore and a daughter of the late James Craton and Liane Batchler Isler. 

She is survived by one son - Scottie Moore of Gaffney, SC; one daughter - Annette Manley of Gaffney, SC; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son - Claude Ricky Moore; one grandson - Ricky Manley; one brother - Edward C. Isler; and one sister - Dorothy I. Whelchel.

Dennis Anthony Rohlinger, 75, of 1476 Blacksburg Highway, Blacksburg, SC, passed away January 1, 2015,  at  Gaffney Medical Center, Gaffney, SC.    Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he is the husband of Nellie Weaver Green of the home and a son of the late Merlin Joseph and Virginia Flad Rohlinger.  He was retired from the Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC.   Mr. Rohlinger was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Nellie, are two sons - George Rohlinger and Joey Freese; three daugthers - Jannette Bridwell, Denise McCarthy and Roberta Williams; and one brother - Gordon Rohlinger of Racine, Wisconsin; and one sister - Marion Rohlinger of Mattone, IL.

Boyce Lee Ballenger

Boyce Lee Ballenger, 67, 301 W. Tenth Street, Charlotte, NC, died December 30, 2014, at home.  Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late Lee and Geneva Cope Ballenger.  A graduate of Ringling College Of Art & Design, Sarasota, Fl,  he  was owner of Ballenger Designs. 

He is survived by two sisters - Patricia B. Day of Blacksburg, SC,  and Aletha  B. Gilliam of Hickory, NC;  as well as nieces and nephews.

Jodie Lee Philemon


Jodie Lee Philemon, 66, 163 Wesley Drive, Blacksburg, SC,  died Thursday, November 13,  2014, at home.   Born in Union County, NC,  he was married to the late Patricia  Bell Philemon and was a son of the late Dorothy Philemon Walters.  He was retired from Black & Decker and was of the Baptist faith.  He served  his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by three step-daughters - Dawn Marie Long of Arkansas, Mary Elizabeth Brown and Amanda Rose Laster both of Clover, SC; eight step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; one brother - Ronald Walters of Kannapolis, NC; and one sister - Carol Zittlow of Harrisburg, NC.

Johnny Moore Black

Johnny Moore Black, 73, of Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord Sunday,  November 2, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC.  He was a son of the late Major John and Edna Dixon Black.  He was a retired truck driver.

Barbara Jean Purvis

Barbara Jean Purvis, 65, of 110 Philbeck St., Shelby, NC, and formerly of Kings Mountain, NC, died October 25, 2014, at Wendover Hospice House, Shelby, NC.  Born in Gaffney, SC, she was married to the late James Lee Purvis and was a daughter of the late Edward Hote and Margaret Horne Parker.

Ralph R. Walker

Ralph R. Walker, 80, died October 18, 2014, at Brookview HealthCare Center, Gaffney, SC.  Born in Cleveland County, NC, he was a son of the late O. M. and Elsie Wood Walker.  He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Duke Power.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his son - Clint  Walker of Blacksburg, SC;  three step-daughters - Annette Skelton of Seneca, SC,  Jackie Leatherwood of Woodruff, SC, and Vanessa Price of Roebuck, SC;  two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two brothers - Abraham Walker of Blacksburg, SC, and David Walker of Gaffney, SC; and two sisters - Alma Lee Vann of Melbourne, FL, and Nancy Adams of Grover, NC.   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife - Margie Addis Walker;  his daughter - Sandra Walker Thomas;  brothers - Manson Walker, John Walker, Joseph Walker, Ronald Walker, Paul Walker and Gudger Walker; and sisters - Annie Sapoch, Geraldine Peeler and Lorena Humphries.

Helen White Falls, 92,  252 Caldwell Road,  Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord September 25, 2014.  Born in York Co., SC, she was married to the late Herbert B. Falls, Sr., and was a daughter of the late Walter Claude and Nancy Dickson White.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.

Falls all of the Kings Creek Community of Blacksburg, SC;  daughters - Nancy Ann Panceroff of Smyrna, SC,  and Barbara F. Smith of the Kings Creek Community of Blacksburg, SC;  thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren;  and her sister - Catherine Davis of Saraland, AL.

Patty Lane Hollins, 43, of 110 Chestnut Street, Grover, NC,  passed away September 15, 2014, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia,  NC.   Born in Kings Mountain, NC, she is the daughter of Betty Martin of  Grover, NC, and the late William and Lenora Westmoreland.   She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, Smyrna, SC.

In addition to her mother, Betty, she is survived by one son - Brandon Laughridge of Grover, NC;  two daughters - Brittany Medrano of Smyrna, SC, and Elizabeth Hollins of Grover, NC;  four grandchildren; two sisters - Joann Tessner of Blacksburg, SC, and Mary Ann Peeler of Gaffney, SC; and four brothers - Manuel Westmoreland, William "Peroone" Westmoreland, Robert Hollins and Henry Hollins all of Kings Creek, SC.   In addition to her parents, William and Lenora Westmoreland, she is preceded in death by her step-dad, Bobby Martin, and one grandchild - Riley Medrano.

Billy Dale Martin, 33,  269 Lancaster Drive, Blacksburg, SC, died August 24, 2014, in Ocala, Florida. He was the son of  Betty Westmoreland Martin and Dennis Martin of the home and Dale Martin of Hickory Grove, SC.

Martha Sapoch McGlothan

Martha Sapoch McGlothan, 87, of 1372 E. Cherokee Street,  Blacksburg, SC, passed away Thursday, August 21,  2014, at Autumn Care of Drexel, Drexel, NC.  A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was the wife of the late Charles W.  McGlothan and a daughter of the late Wince and Effie Moore Sapoch.   She  was retired from Timken.

She is survived by one son - Mark McGlothan of Blacksburg, SC; one daughter Hilda Brittain and husband, Jerry,  of Hickory, NC; one grandson - Jason Brittain and wife, Connie; and two great-grandchldren - Jessica and Jayden Brittain.    In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceeded in death by  three brothers - James Sapoch, J. D. Sapoch, and Forest Sapoch, and two sisters - Lydia McDaniel and Lucy Chalker.

James Hatcher Hamrick Sr.


Kathleen, GA – James Hatcher Hamrick, Sr., 93, entered into rest on August 13, 2014.
 James was born on June 15, 1921 in Blacksburg, South Carolina.  He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School. After graduating James proudly served his country in the United States Marines in World War II during the Pacific Theater.  He then worked as a Dye Supervisor for Minette Mills for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed working with all types of plants in the nursery.

His son, John M. Hamrick; his parents, Rufus Hatcher Hamrick and Annie Louis Neal Hamrick; and siblings, Carl Edward Hamrick, Calvin Neal Hamrick, Kenneth Lee Hamrick, Hellen Parker, and Geneva E. Roark preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Claire Anne Crawford (Joe), Jama M. Wilson, James H. Hamrick, Jr. (Joyce); grandchildren, Saleha A. Wowaka, Joseph C. Crawford, James J. Hamrick, Dustin Moss, Haley Wilson, and his eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, August 15, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at White Columns Funeral Home in Blacksburg, South Carolina. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Holly Ridge Baptist Church, with Rev. Tracy Sullens officiating.  Interment  will follow in Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery.

John G. Brasington, Sr., 88, formerly of 150 Sunny Slope Drive, Cowpens, SC, died August 2, 2014, at Peachtree Centre, Gaffney, SC.  Born in Moore County, NC, he was the husband of the late Susan White Brasington and  was formerly married to the late Edna Burris Brasington.  He was a son of the late Clayton F.  and Margaret Campbell Brasington, Sr. .  He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII.  He was retired from Tom Clarkson Insurance Agency and was a Charter Member of Macedonia VFD.  Mr. Brasington was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son - William C. Brasington and wife, Sandra, of Snellville, GA;  four grandchildren - Jody Brasington and wife, Angie, of Pacolet, SC,  Becky Brasington of Cowpens, SC,  Clay Brasington of Gaffney, SC, and Julie B. Kernstine and husband, Barney, of Dacula, GA; four great-grandchildren - Amelia, Adriana and Harper Ann Kernstine, and Anna Rae Brasington; and one brother - Clayton "Pete" Brasington, Jr. of Bryan, TX.  In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by one son, John G. Brasington, Jr. and wife, Linda F.  Brasington.

Roger Lee Janesky

 Roger Lee Janesky, 70, of Hastings, FL, beloved husband of Barbara Janesky, went home to be with the Lord, July 14, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC.  Born January 4, 1944, in Bridgeport, CT, he spent most of his life in Fairfield, Stratford, and Milford before retiring  and moving to Florida.  Roger was self-employed at J & B Radio & TV before his retirement.  He was a Pilot and Flight  Instructor for 42 years and a member of AOPA.  Flying was an important part of his life. 

Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Hastings, FL;  four sons - Steven(Agnes) of Sharon Springs, NY, Larry(Wendy) of Middleberry, CT, Rick(Adriana) of Bethany, CT, and Darren(Jessica) of Blacksburg, SC;  seven grandchildren - Zach, Tanner, Chloe, Autumn, Sarah, Tommy and Corey;  two brothers - Gordon and Ronnie; one sister - Donna; and several nieces and nephews

There will be no receiving of friends and a Memorial Celebration Of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.  The family will be at 449 N. Shelby Street, Blacksburg, SC.

Ella Brown Boyd

Ella Brown Boyd,  61, 402 N. Charleston St., Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord July 10, 2014, at home.  Born in Salineville, Ohio, she is the wife of Donald Everett Boyd, Sr. of the home and a daughter of the late William Henry and Guyola Hill Brown.   She was a member of Faith Temple Holiness Church Of Jesus Christ, Gaffney, SC.  She was a faithful wife and a dedicated and loving mother.   She considered her grandchildren to be blessings.    She was born into the kingdom of our Lord, by baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost.  She was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all. 

Surviving in addition to her loving husband, Donald, are four sons - Donald E. "D.J." Boyd, Jr.(Amber): of Rogers, Ohio, and Dustin Boyd, Charley Boyd(Brittany) and Jake Boyd all of Gaffney, SC;  four daughters - Tressa Childers of  Gaffney, SC, Guyola Utt(Jason), and Amanda Jones(Troy) both of Blacksburg, SC, and Sarah Coyle(Brook) of Gaffney, SC; 26 grandchildren; one brother - Emmett Samuel Brown of WV; and three sisters - Dorothy Brown Greathouse Bardo of Salineville, Ohio, Lucy Marlene Brown Young of AR, and Ola M. Crislip of FL.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by nine brothers - Odell, Forest, Thomas, Harold, Joseph, James, Charles, John and Abe; and three sisters - Agnes Brown Rogers, Celesta Brown Allen and Delphia Brown Dickson. 

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Friday, July 11, 2014, 6:00 PM, at Faith Temple Holiness Church Of Jesus Christ, Pastored by Rev.  John Boyd,  318 West Buford Street, Gaffney, SC, with Rev. Joseph Boyd officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service.  Interment will be Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11:30 AM, at Mountain View Cemetery, Blacksburg, SC.  At other times, the family will be at the home.

Lois McDaniel Wilson

Lois McDaniel Wilson, 89, formerly of Blacksburg, went home to be with the Lord July 1, 2014, at Agape Senior Living, York, SC.   A native of Cherokee County, she was the wife of the late Bennett Wilson and was a daughter of the late John Harley and Willie Huskey McDaniel.  She and her husband were former owners of  Wilson's  Florist.   She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg,  a former member of the church choir, and a member of the Gloria Bowen Sunday School Class.  She was also a member of the Rosemary Book Club.  

She is survived by two daughters -  Donna W. Robinson and husband, Paul, of Lancaster, SC, and Kyle  Wilson of York, SC;  one granddaughter - Diana Taylor Holshouser and husband, Jesse, of Salisbury, NC;  one grandson - James B. Taylor(Trip) and wife, Pamela, of Columbia, SC;  two great-granddaughters - Cassidy Holshouser of Salisbury, NC, and Rory Taylor of Columbia, SC;  three sisters - Verita Smith and husband, Roy Dean, of Blacksburg, SC,  Betty Wylie of Blacksburg, SC, and Nell Jean Martin of Belmont, NC;  and one brother - Bobby Dean McDaniel and wife, Paula, of Wellford,  SC.  She was also beloved by her nieces and nephew and great-nieces and great-nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother - LeRoy McDaniel.

Johnny Richard Fortenberry

 
Johnny Richard Fortenberry, 67, 1730 W. Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord, June 28,  2014,  at home.   A native of Cherokee County, he was the fiance of Virge Weigel of the home and a son of the late James Andrew and Winifred Moss Fortenberry.  Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.  He was a member of Buffalo Lodge 202, Blacksburg, SC, and State Line Lodge 357, Grover, NC.  He retired from Duke Power after 30 years of service.  Johnny loved gardening, camping and his many friends.   He was an aviation buff, an avid motorcyclist and was a member of the Carolina Cushman Scooter Club.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his fiancee', Virge,  are his son - Rusty Fortenberry of Blacksburg, SC; his daughter - Lori Lee Fortenberry of Blacksburg, SC; and two brothers - Jimmy Fortenberry of Sophia, NC, and David Fortenberry of Anderson, SC.

Bobby James McAbee, Jr. 

Bobby James McAbee, Jr., 61, of 1680 S. Beersheba Road, Clover, SC, passed away June 4, 2014, at home.  He was the husband of Martha Kirk McAbee of the home and a son of the late Herbert James and Sarah Ramsey McAbee.  He was a self-employed roofer.  He loved his children and grandchildren.  He loved outdoor sports and was an excellent horseshoe player.

In addition to his wife, Martha, he is survived by two sons - Michael James McAbee of Hickory Grove, SC, and Timothy Lee McAbee of York, SC;  and  six grandchildren - Dillion Penson of Kings Mountain, NC, Sloan McAbee of York, SC, Gavin Huffman of York, SC, Jamie McAbee of Gaffney, SC, Vanassa Rowe of Hickory Grove, SC  and Michael James McAbee, Jr. of Hickory Grove, SC; and two brothers - Charles McAbee of Grover, NC, and James McAbee of Cherryville, NC.  In addiiton to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers - Larry McAbee, Carl McAbee and Raymond McAbee; and three sisters - Lavona Strickland, Betty Wooten and Virginia McAbee.

Betty Jean Peterson

Betty Jean Peterson, 75, 504 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC, was called to her Heavenly Home by her Lord and Savior May 14, 2014.   A native of Cherokee County, she was the wife of  the late Glenn Thomas Peterson and  daughter of the late Hunter and Flora Ellis White.  She was retired from Weavetec and was a member of Broad River Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter - Glenda Peterson Hopkins and husband, John, of Spartanburg, SC; extended family members and her beloved cats - Sammy and Shortcake.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother - James "Joe" Garland White.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church, with Dr. Timothy "Bo" Waldrop and  John H. Hopkins officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Gladys  Spearman

Gladys Spearman, 78,   Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord, May 15, 2014, at the home of her daughter,  Judy Painter, after a brief illness.  She was the wife of the late Ernest Spearman, Sr. and a daughter of the late Bruce and Rilla Mae Rockwood Simpson.  She and her husband were involved in music ministry for many years as the Singing Spearmans.  She was a member of the Lesslie Church Of God, Lesslie, SC. 

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters - Judy Painter and husband, Jimmy, and Tena Mullinax and husband, J.R., all of Blacksburg, SC;  one son - Ernest Spearman, Jr.; seven grandchildren - Jamie Painter, Gary Shull, Lee Painter, Jeff Mullinax, Daniel Spearman, Samantha Spearman and Dakota Spearman; seven great-grandchildren - Kendra Shull, Lora Shull, Jrake Mullinax, Felicity Spearman, Trinity Shull, Tiara Shull and Brittany Eubanks; one great-great-grandchild - Mason Shull; two sisters - Ann Kise of Blacksburg, SC, and Ethyl White of Gastonia, NC; and one brother - Lawrence Simpson of Grover, NC.   In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Spearman, a daughter, Teresa Spearman, and a  brother, Franklin Dee Gardner.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 2-3:00 PM, at Voice Of Triumph, 179 Corry Road, Blacksburg, SC,.   A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 3:00 PM at Voice Of Triumph with Revs. Ernest Rogers, Ann  Rogers and William Blanton officiating.  Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.  At other times, they will be at the Painter home, 210 Old Factory Road, Blacksburg, SC.

Pallbearers serving are grandchildren - Jamie Painter, Gary Shull, Lee Painter, Jeff Mullinax, Daniel Spearman;  great-granddaughter - Kendra Shull; and Nathan Simmons.

The family  would like to thank Dr. Alfred Ezman, Tara Barnhill and Lisa Jolly for their caring and kindness shown to her during her illness.

 Wince Edward Sapoch


Wince Edward Sapoch, 74, of 962 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC, died April 24, 2014, in Raleigh, NC.  Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the husband of the late  Maude Wilson Sapoch and a son of the late James and Mary Anderson Sapoch.  Wince received his Associate Degree In Electronics from Cleveland Community College.  He was retired from the United States Navy.

He is survived by his son, Wince Sapoch II of Raleigh, NC;  three grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Frances Owens of Blacksburg, SC.  In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Sapoch. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 2-3:00 PM, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.  A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating.

David "Pete" Wesley Walker


David "Pete" Wesley Walker, 54, of 650 Mullinax Circle, Blacksburg, SC, died April 15, 2014, at home after a lengthy illness.  Born in Laurel Hill, NC, he is the husband of Angela "Peanut" Gibson Walker  of the home.  Pete is a son of Van Helms Walker of Blacksburg and the late Floyd W. Walker, Jr.   He worked in the textile industry for many years.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Peanut, are two daughters - Sabrina Walker of Newport, TN, and Mandy Little of Gaffney, SC; four grandchildren;  two sisters - Leylonne Martin and Mona Blankenship both of Blacksburg, SC; as well as extended family members.  In addition to his Dad, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Walker, and one sister, Lisa Gaye Martin.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Broad River Baptist Church.  At other times, they will be at the home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rodger Dale "Snake" Smith

Rodger Dale "Snake" Smith, 70, 252 Tribal Road, Blacksburg, SC, died April 14, 2014, at home.  Born in Bessemer City, NC, he was a son of the late Vernon Patrick  Smith and Margie Mitchell Smith Melton.  He formerly ran Rodger's Diesel Service.

Ernest Haskel Carroll, Sr.


Ernest Haskel Carroll, Sr., 68, 107 Summit Drive,  Blacksburg, SC, died April 10, 2014, at home.  He is the husband of Mary Dover Carroll of the home and a son of the late Cole and Ethel Caveny Carroll.  Born in Cherokee County, he was a carpenter by trade.  Haskel was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.   He dearly loved his grandchildren.  He loved to hunt.  Another pasttime was watching and feeding the many  birds and squirrels that visited his yard.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Mary, are two sons - Ernie H. Carroll, Jr. and Danny Carroll both of Blacksburg; one daughter - Kimberly C. Moore of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren; and one sister - Catherine Spencer of Blacksburg.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother -  Hoyle "Buddy" Carroll.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-7:30 PM at White Columns Funeral Service.  A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014, 3:00 PM, graveside at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Hicks officiating.  At other times, they will be at the home.

Colleen Peace Underwood

Colleen Peace Underwood, 88, formerly of 1330 W. Pine Street, Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord  April 4, 2014, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Gaffney, SC.  A native of Cherokee County,  she is the wife of the late Fred  Underwood and a daughter of the late John Charles and Lola Bell Isler Peace.  She was retired from the textile industry.  Mrs. Underwood was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  

Left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters - Eugenia Crawford, Ruby Owens, Virginia Owens and Thelma Parker; and three brothers - William Peace, Perry Peace and James C. "Buck" Peace.

 The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1-2:00 PM at White Columns Funeral Service.  A Celebration Of Life Service will follow at 2:30 PM, graveside, at Mountain View Cemetery, with Rev. Alester McKInney officiating.  At other times,  the family will be at the home of her niece,  Sylvia  Hampton, 1334 W. Pine Street, Blacksburg, SC

Cindy Lee Ray

Cindy Lee Ray, 52, 1416 Possum Trot Road, Blacksburg, SC, died unexpectedly April 3, 2014, at home.  Born in Shelby, NC,  she is the wife of John J. Ray of the home and a daughter of the late Joe and Reba Pruitt Fortenberry.  Cindy was a LPN and  a former member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church.  Cindy was happiest when helping other people.  She loved to fish.  When she was younger she enjoyed riding horses.  

Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her husband, John, are three sisters - Robyn Fortenberry and Amanda F. Talley both of Grover, NC, and Della F. Childers of Kings Mountain, NC;  and aunts - Faye Kidd of Shelby, NC, Judy Ross of Fallston, NC,  Jeanette Costner of Taylors, SC, Catherine Fortenberry and Joyce Fortenberry.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-7:30 PM, at White Columns Funeral Service.  A Celebration Of LIfe Service will be held Monday, April 7, 2014, 3:00 PM,  at Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Bolin officiating.  Burial will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery.   Following the services Monday,  the family will gather at the home of Timmy and Mary Allen, 113 Sara Lane, Grover, NC. At other times, they will be at the home.

Wilma M. Sanders

Wilma M. Sanders, 96, formerly of 506 Holmes Street, Gaffney, SC, passed away  April 2, 2014,   at Peachtree Centre in Gaffney.  Born in Blacksburg in 1918, she was the widow of the late Nephi Callis Sanders and daughter of the late M. Andrew and Maud White Martin. 

A single mother, homemaker, and provider upon the death of her husband, she retired as a bookkeeper from Broad River Electric Co-operative.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints where she held many positions of service especially teaching little children in the Primary organization.

Surviving are two sons, Michael L. Sanders and wife, Herta, of Orem, Utah,  Randall L. Sanders and wife, Laura, of Gaffney, and one daughter, Brenda S. Hansen and husband, Willard, of West Jordan, Utah, three brothers, Marquis K. Martin and wife, Dorothy, of Spartanburg , Milton T. Martin and wife, Ann, of Ringgold ,Georgia and Manfred G. Martin and wife, Patricia, of Gaffney.  Wilma had 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Hazel M. Sansing of Gaffney.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 701 West Buford Street, Gaffney, SC.  Mrs. Sanders' service will begin at 11:00 AM with Elder Lynn Lawhon and Elder Manfred Martin officiating.    Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.  At other times, the family will be at the home of Manfred Martin, 105 Mimosa Drive, Gaffney, SC.

Michael Todd White


Michael Todd White, 46, 713 Peeler Road, Blacksburg, SC, died unexpectedly March 27, 2014, at home.  A native of Cherokee County, he is the husband of Christy Carroll  and a son of the late Thomas Leon and Terry Elaine Messer White.   He loved his children, fishing and standing around a fire barrell with his friend, Roger Lanier. 

In addition to his wife, Christy, he is survived by one son - Cody Carroll of Blacksburg, SC; two daughters - Kayla Carroll and Haylee Carroll both Blacksburg, SC;  one brother - Jody Scott White of Gaffney, SC: and an aunt - Brenda White of Blacksburg, SC.   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother - Robert Thomas White and one uncle - Billy Gene White.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 30,  2014, from 4-6:00 PM, at the home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held  Monday, March 31, 2014, 3:00 PM,  at Christian Fellowship Church, with Revs. Lucky Earls and Willie Lanier officiating.  Interment will take place in Hambright Cemetery.

Loretta Parker Smith

Loretta Parker Smith, 68, of 316 Holmes St., Gaffney, SC, passed away  Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center.  Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of the late Roy Rogers Smith, Sr., and a daughter of the late Eddie H. and Margaret Horne Parker.  Loretta loved to crochet and work with crafts.

She is survived by two sons - Roy R. Smith, Jr., and Eddie Dean Parker both of Gaffney, SC; five daughters - Cheryl Lynn Smith, Edith Darwin, Loretta Whiten, Ruth Renee Durham and Stella Rose-Lee Raines all of Gaffney, SC;  seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters - Linda Weathers and Dorothy Hollifield both Gaffney, SC, and Barbara Purvis of Kings Mountain, NC; and three brothers - Steve Parker, Johnny Parker and Eddie Parker all of Gaffney, SC.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one sister - Becky Ann Adams.

Private services will be held at a later date.  The family will be at their respective homes.

Joann Broome McDaniel

Joann Broome McDaniel, 79, of 105 Ridge Hill Drive, Lexington, SC, and formerly of Cayce, SC, went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2014, at home.  Born in Blacksburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Lois McDaniel Broome.  She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Lexington, SC. 

Left to cherish her memory are three grandchildren - Christian Rushton(John) of Lexington, SC, Beth Williamson(Robbie) of Swansea, SC, and Robbie Wilson of Richland County, SC; five  great -grandchildren - Ashley Fleeman of Richland County, SC, Caroline Kreider and  Chloe Kreider both of Lexington, SC,  and Harley Williamson and Liam Williamson both of Swansea, SC; two great-great-grandchildren - Lakien Pitchard and Avery Pitchard both of Richland County, SC; and two sisters - Cathy Carpenter(Gary)  of Belmont, NC, and Debbie Martin(Donnie) of Blacksburg, SC.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters - Beth Lybrand and Teresa Wood, and her brother - Melvin Broome.

A graveside Celebration Of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, 12 o'clock noon,  at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Blacksburg, SC, with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating.  At other times, they will be at their respective homes.
